Built in 1957 as the Dallas Memorial Auditorium, the
Dallas Convention Center was given its current
name after a series of expansions in the 1970's. The
center is located in downtown Dallas and can be accessed
by mass trasit via the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)
system. The DART Convention Center Station is located
directly underneath the west wing of the complex. The
Dallas Convention Center boasts both the world's largest
heliport and the largest column-free exhibit hall in
the United States. In addition to exhibition space,
the convention center complex also includes a 1,740-person
theater, 2 ballrooms and Reunion Areana which can hold
up to 19,200 persons for concerts and other events.
