McCormick Place is the world's third largest
convention center and the largest convention center
in the United States. It presently consists of 4 complexes:
the Lakeside Concourse, the North Building, the South
Building and the West Building. These complexes total
2.7 million square feet of exhibition space (with 1.2
million on one level) and 700,000 square feet of meeting
room space. In addition to its extensive meeting and
exhibition space, the McCormick Place complex also offers
a 50,000 square foot pedestrian promenade featuring
retail shopping as well as various additional visitor
amenities.
The newest building, McCormick Place West, was opened
in August of 2007. The new building has added 250,000
square feet of meeting space, 61 meeting rooms, a
1,000 square foot ballroom, a 410 seat food court
and an 800 square foot rooftop garden area to the
convention complex.
